Soul Brothers Centre Grand Opening: A New Dawn for Men's Health in Aotearoa

Manukau, Auckland – On a bright Saturday morning, June 15, 2024, the Men's Health Trust NZ marked a historic milestone with the grand opening of the Soul Brothers Centre at 898 Great South Road, Manukau, Auckland. This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionise men's health and well-being across New Zealand.

The inauguration, held during Men's Health Week, was a vibrant event attended by a diverse group of stakeholders. The South Auckland community turned out in force, joined by Soul Brothers trainers, Men's Health team members, trustees, and Auckland councilors.

Pulotu Selio Solomon, Director of Partnerships for the Trust, encapsulated the journey leading to this momentous occasion, saying, "This is a journey that has been walked for some time."

Tony Mitchell, Men's Health Chair, highlighted the broader vision driving the Soul Brothers Centre. "We truly believe that better men make better families, which makes better communities. It’s not just about men, it’s about whanau as well," he stated.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Mitchell, was a symbolic gesture representing the opening of new possibilities for men in New Zealand. "What you see here today is a centre, a place, where men and community can come together and be something more. It was a huge privilege to cut the ribbon, but that’s only symbolic. This is all about the facility, what we can deliver here, and the services we can provide," he added.

Following the official opening, the Men's Health Trust announced the commencement of the inaugural wave of the Soul Brothers Program, set to begin on July 22, 2024. This transformative initiative aims to empower men, providing them with the necessary tools and resources to lead meaningful and purposeful lives.

The mission of the Men's Health Trust is clear: supporting men to live meaningful and purposeful lives, thereby creating better men, better families, and better communities. The Soul Brothers Centre is a testament to this mission, standing as a beacon of hope and support for men facing various health challenges.

Ina Michael, Executive Director of Men's Health Trust, eloquently expressed the essence of the Soul Brothers Centre. "The Soul Brothers Centre serves as a sanctuary for personal growth, mental health support, and community empowerment. Through tailored programs, workshops, and comprehensive support services, we endeavor to uplift men, strengthen family bonds, and cultivate healthier communities at large."

As the doors of the Soul Brothers Centre open, so too does a new chapter in the landscape of men's health in New Zealand. This visionary project is more than a facility; it represents a commitment to fostering emotional well-being, resilience, and social cohesion. It is a pivotal milestone in the ongoing mission to empower men and enrich communities across Aotearoa. The Trust hopes the South Auckland chapter of Soul Brothers will open the door to more throughout the country.

Join us on this transformative journey to redefine men's health and well-being in New Zealand. Together, we can build a future where every man has the opportunity to thrive, and every community flourishes.
